Paul Broek was born in 1991 in Ede and started playing the piano at the age of seven with Corrie Akkermans. During his high school period he had lessons with Roland Aalbers. After graduation, he studied Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam. Since 2010, he is enrolled at the Utrecht Conservatory with Henry Kelder.
He is playing in a variety of ensembles and therefore actively participating in chamber music programs. As a soloist, he attended masterclasses by Martyn van den Hoek, Igor Roma and Fumiko Eguchi, among others. He also accompanies several singers, and took part in the international student lied duo competition (Enschede), last year. This June, he gratuated his bachelor of music cum laude, with honours. Recently, he received the Emir Steyerberg price 2016 for best bachelor exam.
